History

  • 2004: Dr. Wu founded the Division of Biomedical Modeling and Informatics with 5 people within the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology.
  • 2005: Our Division successfully obtained a center grant from NIAID/NIH, the Center for Biodefense Immune Modeling (CBIM).
  • 2006:The division successfully helped two biomedical center grant applications by providing biostatistics/bioinformatics core support, Biomedical Informatics Key Function of CTSI and the Center for Immune Function and Biodefense in Children, Elderly and Immunocompromised Populations.
  • 2006:The division grew into 15 people and moved to Lattimore building.
  • 2007:The division successfully helped two biomedical center grant applications by providing biostatistics and bioinformatics core support, the New York Influenza Center of Excellence (NYICE) and Developmental-Center for AIDS Research (D-CFAR).
  • 2008:The division further grew into more than 21 people.
  • 2009:The division successfully helped one CDC center grant application by providing biostatistics support, the Rochester Prevention Research Center.
  • 2010:The division successfully helped with two program grant applications by providing biostatistics and bioinformatics core support, the Novel Adjunctive Therapies for NeuroAIDS and the B Cells in Health and Disease.
  • 2010:The division successfully renewed the Center for Biodefense Immune Modeling.
  • 2010: Division members, Dr. Hua Liang and Dr. Hulin Wu as Co-PIs received the T32 training grant, Biostatistics in HIV/AIDS research.
  • February 2011:The division further grew into more than 25 people.
  • May, 2011:The division moved to the 4th floor of the new Saunders Research Building.    
  • July 1, 2011:The division founder, Dr. Hulin Wu was appointed as the Dean’s Professor in recognition of his contribution in helping to shape the life of the institution in a significant way.
  • December, 2011:The division successfully helped with one center grant application by providing data management and computational biology core support, the Respiratory Pathogens Research Center (RPRC).
  • March, 2012: Based on the Division of Biomedical Modeling and Informatics, the new Center for Integrative Bioinformatics and Experimental Mathematics (CIBEM) is established within the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology
