Special Instructions: Free for UR faculty, students, staff. Comes with MDConsult subscription. Go to MDConsult on your desktop. Click on "create an account". Use this user name and password for the APP. WiFi is necessary for updates. Automatic updates is the default setting; if you don't want that, you can update manually, whenever you are connected to a network.
Tasks or Searches Tested: Searched emphysema, epilepsy, Williams Syndrome, COPD
Design: Screen layout is clean and neat. Icons are labeled. There are just a few icons. Easy to read print.
Functionality: -you can search for a condition in the search box, or click on MENU, then topics and see a full list of topics, or you can click on a letter of the alphabet. -once you get to a condition, you need to click on MENU to see all parts of the monograph for that condition. - there are links, when appropriate, to the conditions mentioned in any one monograph -touch Sections in a monograph to see key points & summary
Content: -includes levels of evidence in some cases. -references are linked to the web through CrossRef and PubMed -This is a point of care, evidence based app with information on medical topics, such as background, diagnosis, treatment, outcome, preventions, resources.
Other Comments: - I couldn't find emphysema in here. It seems to be under COPD, but didn't come up in the searchbox search. - Seems really easy to use.
