Medical Resident Elective In Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology
The Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology Division offers two excellent electives in Clinical Allergy/Immunology and Rheumatology (AIR) for medical residents. One is designed for first year residents and is taught solely in the ambulatory clinic. The other is designed for upper level residents, and combines ambulatory and consultative experiences.
Highlights of the First Year Resident Elective
- 5 half days per week in ambulatory clinics workin one-on-one with a faculty member focusing on history and physical exam, diagnostic laboratory studies, and diagnosis of the more common diseases
- Division conferences to complement the patient care experience
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound and DEXA scanning
- Self-study course using Blackboard designed for the first year resident
Highlights of the Upper Level Resident Elective
- 4-5 half days per week in ambulatory clinics workin one-on-one with a faculty member focusing on history and physical exam, diagnostic studies, diagnosis of the more common diseases, and medication education and management
- In-patient consultative experience
- Division conferences to compliment the patient care experience
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound and DEXA scanning
- Self-study course using Blackboard designed for the first year resident
