Dr. Kochersberger is a fellowship trained geriatrician, who is based at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua, NY as the Co-Careline Manager for Geriatrics and Extended Care. He completed his medical training at Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University and his residency in internal medicine at the United Health Services. He completed a geriatrics fellowship at Duke University in 1987. He also serves as Medical Director of the F.F. Thompson Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua.

His research activities have centered on inpatient extended care. Projects have included the provision of rehabilitation services in this setting and, more recently, an examination of dysmobility in patients admitted to nursing home dementia programs.
