Fee-for-Service Laboratory Support for Clinical Trials

The University of Rochester Clinical Trials Processing Laboratory (URCTPL) has 25 years of experience in providing laboratory support to investigator-initiated clinical trials. The URCTPL is a fee-for-service core resource that supports human clinical trials and basic science research conducted within the University of Rochester.

The laboratory provides technical services including:

The laboratory is staffed by 4 full-time trained technicians, a supervisor, assistant director, and director. The laboratory staff is proficient in preparing a variety of derivatives from a wide range of human or animal blood and tissues.

The lab follows Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) and is therefore compliant with FDA auditing requirements and other governmental regulators. All specimens follow a strict chain of custody including electronic tracking using laboratory data management software, which includes barcoding all samples.

The lab is certified to ship biological specimens both domestically and internationally using any courier (e.g. Fed Ex, UPS). The lab is also experienced in working with many pharmaceutical companies (e.g. Merck, Bavarian Nordic, GSK) and commercial testing labs (e.g. Quest, Covance, Esoterix, Lab Corp). The lab carries out quality assurance procedures to ensure top-quality specimens.
