Research

Research programs within the Infectious Diseases Division are primarily supported by NIH awards and include an AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) and an HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU).

The division has major research programs in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) with a focus on vaccine development and testing, and translational research. These research efforts have developed in the context of an extraordinarily productive collaborative relationship with investigators in the Center for Vaccine Biology and Immunology (CVBI), the New York Influenza Center of Excellence (NYICE) and others in the Department of Microbiology, and with colleagues in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology.

The division operates the Monroe County Department of Health's STD Clinic under a service agreement. Direction of the clinic by our division provides a unique training resource as well as an opportunity for translational research and education.
