Department / Division Web Sites
We provide direct access to edit your web site using Macromedia Contribute, giving your administrative staff the ability to be in charge of their own site content. Macromedia Contribute is a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) web page editor that is as easy to use, if not easier, as Microsoft Word. You can quickly browse to the web page that you would like to change, Click the edit button at the top of your Contribute browser window, make your change, and publish your change directly to our production web server allowing changes to occur the instant you save them. All you need us to do is set you up with a web site and you are free to edit that site however you deem fit*. If you do not like the Medicine or OB/GYN templates or you do not fall within the OB/GYN or Medicine departments then we can meet with you about designing a template that fits your needs.
MWS Web Site Standards
- Application Language: C#
- Templates: Templates will be provided by MWS to ensure the quality of the design and that the design works properly on an array of different browsers.
- Links: Links should be checked regularly for accuracy, invalid internal links will be picked up with the web servers error system and you will be notified if a large amount of internal errors are found.
- Styles: A user will be allowed to apply any of the styles provided within the template. If a variant of a particular style must be created, it will be done at the request of the user to MWS. This is to prevent a deprecation of accessibility among the various sites.
- Images: Images exceeding the standard maximum size for the template will be automatically resized to fit the specification of the site. The template may force the user to provide accessibility information when inserting an image at the discretion of the unit's administrator.
- Directory Structure: Each Sub Site will have its own directory, a directory of web pages will each have its own navigation bar, editable through the Web Navigation application on M:CSI. If you decide you would like two separate navigation bars for two different areas of you site, you will need to request another sub site.
*Sites will adhere to MWS standards through template editable regions, which prevents the ability for a user to make a programmatic mistake to the design of the site. |
