RESEARCH STUDY ANNOUNCEMENT
Impact of Tic Disorder:
In Youth, On Individuals, Families, and Communities
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to learn more about Tourette Syndrome and related
conditions, such as anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention-
Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and depression. The Impact of Tic Disorders
study team wants to learn if children with Tourette Syndrome and related conditions have
more difficulties in school and at home compared to children without Tourettes. Jonathan
Mink, MD PhD is the Principal Investigator.
Study Questions
The study will ask families to provide information on:
- Current and past symptoms of Tourette Syndrome and related conditions
- Family and child quality of life
- School performance
- Social functioning
Other Study Details
- We are recruiting children ages 5-17 years with diagnosed Tourette Syndrome.
- All study assessments will be completed in one visit which may last up to 4 hours.
- Each Tourette family must invite a control family to participate.
- Control family is a friend of your child and his/her parent. The family will complete the same assessments as the Tourette family, but at a different time. All responses are confidential. We will not share your information with the control family you invite, or with anyone else taking part in the study.
- Both child and parent will receive a $50 gift card at study completion.
- No blood draws or research medication are involved in this study.
