HIV Neurology Clinic

The HIV Neurology Clinic (NeuroAIDS), located at Strong Memorial Hospital, provides clinical care to the HIV positive population with neurological complications of HIV infection. Currently, it is home to the only neurologists in upstate New York specializing in neurological complications of HIV and AIDS, such as:

  • AIDS-related neuropathy - occurs when the nervous system or nerves deteriorate.
  • AIDS-related dysautonomia - a disorder of the autonomic nervous system that causes disturbances in all or some autonomic functions, like the heart, blood vessels, muscles, stomach, and intestines.
  • AIDS-related dementia - a condition characterized by a marked decline in the individual's intellectual level and often by emotional apathy.
