UR Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Center

UR Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Center's mission is to provide excellent clinical care in the area of pediatric neuroimmunologic diseases, including multiple sclerosis and related diseases. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the quality of life of children and adolescents struggling with these disorders by providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere, and care that is highly accessible for families. We focus on multiple aspects of disease including underling disease progression, secondary symptoms, cognitive status, and emotional well-being.

Clinical Services

  • We offer clinical care and treatment of pediatric patients (<18 years) with known or suspected immunologic disorders affecting the nervous system, including:
    • Pediatric multiple sclerosis
    • Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
    • Optic neuritis
    • Transverse myelitis
    • Neuromyelitis Optica
    • Autoimmune encephalitis (including Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis)
    • Myasthenia Gravis
    • Guillain BarrĂ© Syndrome
    • Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP)
  • Neuropsychological assessment to evaluate for any cognitive or psychosocial difficulties related to the condition.
  • Case management services
  • Our clinic coordinator will ensure that appointments are coordinated with other services (e.g. other medical visits or MRI testing). She is available to assist families in any way regarding scheduling of appointments, social work services, neuropsychological testing, or MRI testing.
