Pleomorphic microglia, H&E stain: The appearance of pleomorphic microglia in an H&E stain is demonstrated here in a slide from a case of polio. The small cells have variegated nuclear configurations and are almost exclusively pleomorphic microglia. In contrast to the previous slide, the cytoplasm is not clearly visualized.
