MRI - Vascular dementia: This 73-year-old woman with a past history of hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and previous stroke presented with memory difficulties. Examination revealed diffuse hyperreflexia, frontal release signs and an MMSE of 17/30. The T2-weighted axial image on the left shows multiple patchy areas of high signal in the periventricular white matter. On the T1-weighted axial image on the right, there is confluent high signal within the periventricular regions. |
