MRI/MRA - Infarct, middle cerebral artery distribution with intracranial stenosis: This 57-year-old woman with a history of hypercholesterolemia and hypertension presented with recurrent episodes of slurred speech and right-sided weakness. Neurological examination was normal with the exception of right-sided give-way weakness and midline splitting of epicritic sensory loss. The image on the left is a FLAIR-weighted coronal MR that shows two areas of high signal intensity in the left corona radiata without mass effect. The corresponding MRA on the right demonstrates a focal stenosis of the proximal left middle cerebral artery.
