Glioblastoma multiforme, microscopic: The microscopic appearance of glioblastomas is highly variable. They tend to be densely cellular and pleomorphic. Areas of necrosis are common. In this example, much of the field is occupied by necrotic tissue, which is eosinophilic and granular, with nuclei forming "pseudopalisades" along the margin of the necrotic regions.
