Multiple sclerosis; medulla and pons: Myelin stains of caudal medulla (above) and pons (below) demonstrate the totality of destruction of myelin in multiple sclerosis and the asymmetry of lesions. In the section of pons below, the large area of demyelination presumably represents confluence of many smaller lesions. Note the separate smaller areas of demyelination on the right side of the basis pontis. |
