MRI - Spinal epidural abscess: This 57-year-old man presented with fever, back pain and difficulty walking. General examination was significant for a temperature of 39.6 (C, point tenderness in the L1 region and decreased rectal tone. Neurological examination demonstrates bilateral flaccid paraplegia and sensory loss with an L2 level. This sagittal T2-weighted image of the lumbosacral spinal cord shows an extradural, paraspinal mass compressing the spinal cord posteriorly from the T12-L1 to the L1-L2 level.
