AIDS - Toxoplasmosis: A common opportunistic infection of CNS in AIDS is toxoplasmosis. The characteristic cystic form of the organism is evident in the center of this field. Such cysts will rupture and release free-living forms (tachyzoites) which probably are the basis for spread through contiguous tissues.
