Acute subdural hematoma: This slide shows an example of an acute subdural hematoma. The dura has been partially cut away over the left hemisphere, to expose the underlying clot of blood. Acute subdural hematomas of this degree may be fatal because of compression of underlying brain with accompanying edema and herniation.
