Alzheimer's Disease; neuritic plaque core: Some neuritic plaques have a core of beta or A4 amyloid protein. This amyloid is also found around blood vessels in Alzheimer's Disease. In this section amyloid is visible as an amorphous focus of pink-staining material (Congo red stain), surrounded by several reactive microglia.
