VNS Among Top 500 in Nation
Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester and Monroe County, Inc., was named one of the top 500 home health agencies in the country, according to 2010 Homecare Elite. OCS HomeCare and Decision Health compare home health providers on the basis of quality of care, quality improvement, and financial performance. The ranking was based on 12 measures published on the federal government’s Home Health Compare website, comparing results in September 2009 against those of April 2010. Financial performance was derived using Medicare Cost Report data for 2010. Agencies self-report data in areas like pain management, bathing, surgical wound healing, and more which is then compared with other HomeCare Elite data in the state and against the national average. The 2010 HomeCare Elite is the only performance improvement ranking of its kind in the home health industry.
AHA Lauds URMC Hospitals
Highland Hospital has received the 2010 American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award. The distinction is the highest honor of its kind and recognizes Highland’s commitment and success in implementing excellent care for stroke patients, according to evidence-based guidelines.
The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association named Strong Memorial Hospital as the region’s only hospital to earn the 2010 ACTION Registry – Get With the Guidelines Gold Performance Achievement Award. Strong is one of only 136 hospitals in the nation to receive this top honor.
AHA Lauds URMC Heart & Stroke programs
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has once again honored Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester Medical Center with a Triple Performance Achievement Award for meeting its highest standards for coronary artery disease, heart failure and stroke care. Strong Memorial is the only Rochester area hospital to receive this honor, and the only Rochester area hospital to receive any level of American Heart Association recognition for its coronary artery disease and heart failure care.
National Guard and Reserve Salutes Highland
Highland Hospital received a plaque from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, ESGR, for going above and beyond the law in supporting their employee Service Members who have been mobilized.
Strong’s Progressive Care Unit & ICUs Honored
In 2010, the 7-3400 Progressive Care unit and the Surgical ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital won the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence. It is one of only four in the nation to receive the honor in 2010. For the fourth consecutive year, Strong’s Cardio-Vascular Intensive Care Unit captured the Award. Sponsored by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the Beacon Award is presented annually to ICUs that consistently exhibit high quality standards, exceptional care of patients and families, and healthy work environments.
Primary Care Wins Diabetes Certification
URMC’s Center for Primary care was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for using evidence-based, nationally recognized clinical measures for diabetes care and management.
USNews & World Report Cites Golisano Children’s Hospital
Golisano Children’s Hospital has been named among the nation’s Top 30 hospitals for pediatric orthopaedics and pediatric neuromedicine. The results of this year’s ranking were published in the July 2010 issue of USNews & World Report.
Wilmot Cancer Center Honored for Excellence
The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center was one of eight national cancer centers to receive a New Program Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Highland Hospital’s Endoscopy Center Recognized
Highland Hospital’s Endoscopy Center is one of 68 endoscopy centers in the nation to be recognized by The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) this year as part of its new program specifically dedicated to promoting the highest standards of safety and quality in endoscopy.
Strong Memorial Remains Consumer Favorite
For the fifteenth consecutive year, Strong Memorial Hospital has won the National Research Corporation’s Consumer Choice Award. The award cites hospitals that health care consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and best image in 190 markets across the U.S.
Surgical Teams Win Gold Star
URMC was recognized as a top performing hospital at the American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Clinical Congress for demonstrating superior outcomes in reducing surgical site infections and post-operative pneumonias.
