MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream and Treatery

Thumbs up to the staff at MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream and Treatery at Eastview Mall for selecting the Wilmot Cancer Center to be the recipient of their ‘tip jar’ monies for the month of February. They donated $302 to support patient care and cancer research.

Rush Henrietta 9th Grade Academy Pi Day

For the fifth year in a row, students at Rush Henrietta’s 9th Grade Academy celebrated Pi Day on March 14 (3.14) by ‘pi’ing their teachers. The students earned the privilege by collecting change to support cancer patients at the Wilmot Cancer Center. For every $60 raised in each math class, the teacher received a whipped-cream pie in the face. Their efforts raised $2,432.68 for the Wilmot Cancer Center, a record amount for this event!

Christopher’s Challenge

The McQuaid Rugby team (pictured here), along with more than 100 others walked in ‘Christopher’s Challenge Hike for Life’ on Sunday, March 27 at Eastview Mall, to support patients at the Samuel E. Durand Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit of the Wilmot Cancer Center. The $8,200 raised at the event will support testing fees for individuals willing to join a bone marrow registry and purchase items for the unit such as movies, cots, computers, and other items to make the patients and their families more comfortable. Wilmot Cancer Center Hat Day

April 1st saw some ‘crazy hats’ out and about in celebration of the annual Wilmot Cancer Center Hat Day. Participants in schools and businesses across the region, including the Wilmot Cancer Center, paid $1 to be able to wear their hat that day to show their support for the Wilmot Cancer Center. More than $900 was raised to support cancer research.
