With an obesity epidemic sweeping the globe, Rochester’s certainly not been left behind – 30 percent of Monroe County kids over age 2 are either overweight or obese, a figure that’s comparable to national averages. Local pediatricians are joining the fight to help reverse the epidemic.
In late July, URMC marked the opening of upstate New York’s largest hospital-affiliated ambulatory surgery center, featuring 10 operating suites and three procedure rooms equipped with advanced technology, plus roomy facilities built to enhance patient comfort and privacy.
In June, Golisano Children's Hospital at URMC ranked 25th for Pediatric Orthopaedics in U.S. News & World Report's 2009 edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals. The annual survey was issued to 160 pediatric institutions nationwide.
