Among nation’s best: Golisano Children's Hospital shines in kids’ orthopaedic care

In June, Golisano Children's Hospital at URMC ranked 25th for Pediatric Orthopaedics in U.S. News & World Report's 2009 edition of America's Best Children's Hospitals. The annual survey was issued to 160 pediatric institutions nationwide.
URMC’s high marks can be credited to its recent focus on growing children’s orthopaedic services – first by opening a pediatric intensive care unit in 2005 (making it possible to care for children with the most complex orthopaedic conditions), and just last year, by hiring a new chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics (James Sanders, M.D.) who specializes in correcting scoliosis and severe spinal deformities.
