School of Medicine and Dentistry climbs in U.S. News rankings
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry moved up five positions to 31st best research medical school and up four to 15th best primary care medical school in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 listing of top graduate schools in the country, which were released in late April.
“We are very pleased that the progress we have made at the School of Medicine and Dentistry has been recognized by peers, as reflected in our improved U.S. News ranking,” said David S. Guzick, M.D., Ph.D., dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry. “This is the result of the dedication and accomplishments of our talented faculty, staff and students.”
The medical school rankings in primary care and research are based on a variety of subject areas, accounting for both reputation and other objective criteria such as total research dollars, faculty research productivity, mean MCAT and GPA scores, and acceptance rates.
