Golf Tournament to Support Breast Cancer Program
Spencerport Soccer Team Hosts Event Oct. 8th
September 17, 2001
The Spencerport High School girls' soccer teams will hold a charity golf tournament on Monday, Oct. 8, at the Caledonia Country Club. This tournament will benefit the Comprehensive Breast Care Program at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The 18-hole scramble begins at 11 a.m. The cost is $75, which includes a cart, lunch, and prime rib dinner. There will be prizes and raffles as well. Sports anchor Traci Bush, from WOKR-13, will serve as emcee for the event.
"Breast cancer is a tremendous challenge and the girls on the team wanted to show their support for women who are enduring treatment and the individuals who help care for them by holding the benefit tournament," said Debbie Moyer, parent of a player. "This was a great way for them to show their team spirit and help the community."
The girls will also organize a Memory Walk, featuring the names of breast cancer survivors and those who succumbed to the disease. The certificates cost $10 and will be displayed at the tournament.
Sponsors and prize donations for the event are also needed. For more information or to register, call Debbie Moyer at 352-6543.
