Peter A. Kouides, M.D., Joins James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center

Peter A. Kouides, M.D., has joined the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester School of Medicine as associate professor in the Hematology-Oncology Department.
Prior to his appointment, Kouides was a member of the attending staff at Rochester General Hospital. He is presently associate medical director of the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center Inc., and co-editor of Bloodline, an online hematology resource for clinicians and scientists.
He received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his M.D. from the State University of New York at Syracuse. He completed his residency at Tufts University Medical School and fellowships in hematology, oncology and hematology/bone marrow transplant at University of Rochester Medical Center.
Kouides has a strong clinical and research interest in the area of the myelodysplastic syndromes and in clotting and bleeding disorders. This includes an ongoing study of the diagnosis and management of heavy menstrual bleeding in women with underlying bleeding disorders funded through the Centers of Disease Control, Hematological Branch in Atlanta, Ga.
