Six Honored with URMC Chairman's Quality Award of Excellence

During the annual meeting of the University of Rochester Medical Center Board, chairman Robert H. Gutkin presented the fourth annual Chairman's Quality Awards of Excellence to six URMC employees whose professional and personal standards exemplify quality patient care.
Carl H. Andrus, M.D., clinical associate professor in the Department of Surgery, was honored for his superb surgical skills and for consistently following the professional ethic during the more than three decades he has spent at the Medical Center.
Her outstanding interpersonal skills, her commitment to her patients, and her attention to detail are the qualities that earned Holly Barone, administrator of the Eastman Dental Center's Community Outreach Program, this year's award.
Sue Copek, R.N., B.S.N., nurse leader in the outpatient dialysis unit, was recognized for her compassion, her dedication, and her intrinsic belief in the benefits of quality care for patients.
Her attention to detail, her willingness to get the job done for the good of the institution department, and her positive attitude, are the qualities that earned Mary Horton, credentialing coordinator for Physician Services, this year's award.
Kathy Miraglia, manager of the interpreter services program, was honored for her stellar work in making Strong's interpreter program one of the best in the country.
Her eternal optimism, her dedication to her work, and her belief that quality is something that should be maintained everyday, are the qualities that earned Judy Sterry, M.S., lab operations manager for Pathology and Lab Medicine, this year's award.
