Daniel B. Ornt, M.D., has been named Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
As Associate Chair of Medicine for the past two years, Ornt was instrumental in managing the administrative challenges facing the clinical operation of the department. He also has become the key person responsible for hospital as well as faculty practice matters.
"As we move forward in this dynamic clinical arena, we anticipate Dr. Ornt's role as Vice Chair of Medicine will continue to be critical to our success," says Bradford C. Berk, M.D., Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Medicine, Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Research and Chief of Cardiology at the Medical Center.
Ornt's expanded responsibilities will include establishing new practice models for the Department and Strong Memorial Hospital, particularly those related to recruitment of new faculty, integration of community physicians and Strong Memorial Hospital physicians to provide optimal patient care, and implementation of critical care pathways and computer-based approaches to patient care.
A nephrologist, Ornt has been a member of the Medical Center faculty for 19 years.
