John DeSocio Appointed Manager of Telemedicine and Distributive Learning at the University of Rochester Medical Center

John DeSocio has been named manager of telemedicine and distributive learning at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Since telemedicine's inception at the Medical Center two years ago, it has proven to be an effective method of delivering healthcare to those in need, but who have limited access to care, especially inmates and residents living in remote rural areas. The USDA's current initiative to bridge the digital divide between rural communities has resulted in a the great demand for this healthcare delivery method.
In his new role as manager, DeSocio will continue to serve as the Medical Center's telemedicine technical liaison to the NYS Department of Corrections, but will have the added responsibility of serving as internal telemedicine and distributive learning consultant to the Strong Health system. DeSocio, who has been at the forefront of the telemedicine initiative since its inception at URMC, will oversee standardization of all facility auditoriums as sites for telemedicine conferencing.
DeSocio holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and a graduate degree in instructional technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.
