Mother/Daughter Program to Focus on Healthy Adolescence
May 04, 2000
Mothers can play a vital role in supporting their daughters through the physical and emotional changes of their teen years. To help, Strong Health will offer a free program, Your Daughter's Changing Body: A Seminar for Mothers and Their Teen Daughters, on May 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at The Harley School in Brighton.
Experts who specialize in adolescent care will discuss the challenges and joys of this important phase in a woman's life, including health issues, sexuality and body image. The program begins with information for mothers and daughters on physiological changes from preparing for menstruation through adolescence. This will be followed by discussion on body image, self-esteem building, healthy choices and more.
Speakers for the program include obstetrician-gynecologists Dianne Edgar, M.D., and Susan Mou, M.D., and body-image consultant Deneen Rhode.
The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are required as space is limited. To register, call 1-888-661-6162.
