Children's Hospital at Strong to Honor Miracle Makers
Evan Cummings is one of the honorees at tonight's event
February 03, 2000
Children's Hospital at Strong will thank individuals, businesses, and community groups dedicated to improving the lives of children at a celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3.
This year's Miracle Maker Award for Outstanding Commitment by an Individual will be given to Evan Cummings. In 1996, Evan broke his neck while attempting to make snow angels for his sisters, leaving him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Even after such a life-changing ordeal, his spirit remains strong. Evan's extraordinary commitment to Children's Hospital at Strong is evident in his participation in the annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon.
Other award winners are Elise van derJagt, M.D., of Pittsford; Dynasty Water Consultants of Victor; Toys R' Us of Henrietta and Greece; Mercy High School; and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Special guests include Arthur Twist, of Canandaigua, whose touching story of survival was shared during the 1999 telethon. Arthur, now more than a year old, will be joined by family members who will share their experience at Children's Hospital.
A formal awards presentation - at which each honoree will receive a Miracle Maker Award - is scheduled for 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. in the Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building, west of the hospital's main entrance and parking garage, near the corner of Elmwood and Lattimore. Please join us.
