Competition at TGI Friday's to Benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital
August 01, 2002
Bartenders from five TGI Friday’s restaurants will gather next week to vie for the Regional Bartenders’ Championship and help a good cause. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. The public and media are invited to attend the competition, which will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, Aug. 7, at TGI Friday’s, 125 White Spruce Blvd, Brighton.
Representatives from TGI Friday’s restaurants throughout this part of the state - Big Flats, Buffalo (2), Greece, and Henrietta - will compete for top bartending honors. They will be tested about their knowledge of food and drinks, and will be asked to display their speed and flair when it comes to filling drink orders.
Those attending the competition will be treated to a free buffet, and will have the opportunity to sample products from a wide variety of vendors. In addition, donated merchandise and products will be auctioned. “This is a fun time for a good cause,” says Justine Bartle, bar manager for TGI Friday’s in Brighton, where the event will be held. “It’s going to be a great atmosphere.”
Golisano Children’s Hospital, the Rochester region’s only hospital devoted solely to the care of ill and injured children, is in the midst of a $30 million fund-raising campaign. Its top priority is building a new 22-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
