Put on Your Walking Shoes and Support Kids
May 15, 2002
The annual Stroll for Strong Kids will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Genesee Valley Park. People of all ages are invited to participate in the scenic two-mile walk. All proceeds from the event benefit Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong.
The day is packed with children's activities, free lunch from Outback Steakhouse, and a concert by Gary the Happy Pirate. Participants raise money through sponsorship pledges, and prizes will be awarded to the top fund-raisers in each age group. Last year, 800 people took part, raising more than $80,000 for Golisano Children's Hospital.
Sign-in and children's activities start at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is required. To register and obtain pledge forms for the Stroll for Strong Kids, or to learn more, call 585-273-5948.
With 123 beds, Golisano Children's Hospital is the only hospital in the Rochester and Finger Lakes regions dedicated solely to the care of children. It recently announced a $30 million fund-raising campaign that will support a five-year strategic plan to bolster the services, research, and facilities - including a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - that are available to children.
