Dr. David J. Mitten Appointed to Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center

David J. Mitten, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Mitten has a unique combination of training in both plastic surgery and orthopaedic surgery. He most recently served as chief resident in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine. Prior to that, he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

At the University of Rochester Medical Center, Mitten will specialize in orthopaedic surgery, with an emphasis on hand and upper extremity, microvascular, trauma/limb salvage, and problem wounds. His research will focus on utilization of bioengineering techniques to restore joint function.

Mitten received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He also received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester.
