Dr. Benedict F. DiGiovanni Appointed to Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Rochester Medical Center

Benedict F. DiGiovanni, M.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester Medical Center.
DiGiovanni most recently served as the Director of the Foot and Ankle Institute at the Orthopaedic Multispecialty Network, Inc., in Canton, Ohio. He served on the medical staff at Mercy Medical Center and at Aultman Hospital, both in Canton.
At the University of Rochester Medical Center, DiGiovanni will specialize in foot and ankle disorders, with an emphasis on ankle arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, arthritic conditions, sports medicine and dance injuries, and fractures and dislocations of the foot and ankle. His research will focus on a variety of topics including diabetic foot ulcer treatment options, functional activity limitations after bunion surgery, and sports injury prevention.
DiGiovanni completed an orthopaedic foot and ankle fellowship, spending eight months at the American Sports Institute in Birmingham and four months at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also completed a fellowship in basic science research at Case Western Reserve University. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, where he also completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery.
DiGiovanni is a member of several professional societies, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
