UR chair of pediatrics named president of association

Elizabeth R. McAnarney, M.D.
, professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center and pediatrician-in-chief at Children’s Hospital at Strong, was recently named president of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs Inc.
McAnarney, who will serve as president for the 1999-2001 term, is the first woman named to the post.
Chair of the Department of Pediatrics since 1993, McAnarney previously served as chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs Inc., founded in 1962, consists of 146 members from accredited medical schools in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Its purpose is to foster education and research in the field of child health and human development.
