Craig Weise, R.N., Receives URMC Chairman’s Quality Award

During the annual meeting of the University of Rochester Medical Center Board, chairman Ronald B. Knight presented the second annual Chairman’s Quality Award to Craig Weise, R.N. The award recognizes employees whose professional and personal standards exemplify quality patient care. Weise is one of four employees honored with the award.
Weise, who has worked as a nurse in Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department since 1975, was honored for his strong commitment to all aspects of his profession. In presenting the award, Knight cited Weise for his "outstanding ability to think on his feet," and for "his compassion toward both patients and co-workers alike."
Weise earned his associate’s degree in nursing from Jamestown Community College and a bachelor’s in emergency medical services from Empire State College. He is certified in both emergency nursing and advanced cardiac life support, and is a certified paramedic. In 1997, Weise received the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS Council’s Emergency Nurse of Excellence Award and in 1998, he was recognized by the Strong Health System for fostering professionalism in nursing.
