Robert H. Gutkin Named Chairman of University of Rochester Medical Center Board

Pittsford resident Robert H. Gutkin, former owner and retired president of Dynalab Corporation, has been named chairman of the University of Rochester Medical Center Board.
The principal governing body of the Medical Center and its component parts -- Strong Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital at Strong, the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Nursing, Eastman Dental Center, and the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group -- the URMC Board establishes hospital policy and guides institutional management and planning.
Gutkin, who assumed his post January 25, will chair the board for two years.
Gutkin, who owned and operated Dynalab Corporation for 34 years, is a member of the Strong Partners Health Systems Board of Directors and a past member of the Children’s Hospital at Strong Board of Directors. Since joining the URMC Board in the fall of 1990, Gutkin has served as chair of both the Quality of Care Committee and the Development Committee. Currently, Gutkin serves as co-chair of the Medical Center’s Campaign for Discovery, which has raised over $26 million to-date for the new biomedical research building.
In addition to his involvement with the University, Gutkin is heavily involved with community activities, and currently serves on the boards of the Jewish Community Federation and the Jewish Community Center. He is also a member of several local, private charitable foundations. A former board member of the Jewish Home and the Jewish Community Foundation, Gutkin is also a former vice president of the Jewish Community Center and a past president of the Irondequoit Country Club.
