On Sunday, February 7, Strong Memorial Hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program will hold a special gathering in recognition of the program’s 10 years of service to the community. The ceremony will recognize the program’s tremendous growth and progress over the last decade, as well as the nearly 900 transplants which were performed on patients with breast cancer, lymphoma, leukemia, aplastic anemia, sickle cell anemia, and brain tumors.
In recognition of this important milestone, over 150 families of deceased and surviving patients will be in attendance, as well as dozens of past and present patients, and past and present staff, who will share their thoughts and memories of a decade.
John DiPersio, M.D., past medical director of Strong’s BMT program, is the event’s guest of honor and will provide opening remarks. Following opening remarks, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will play selections in honor of past RPO members who received care in Strong’s Bone Marrow Unit.
