January 26, 1999

Donald DiVita has been named director of clinical engineering for Strong Health. As director, DiVita is responsible for consolidating the services of the Strong Health biomedical, clinical equipment, and imaging engineering staff.

DiVita was previously director of clinical engineering at Highland Hospital for 22 years, and has held similar positions at other local and regional hospitals. He remains director of facilities and engineering at Highland.

"By consolidating services we will be able to provide more extensive services for repair and preventative maintenance on all of the patient care and clinical equipment throughout the health system," says DiVita. "The overall goals are to improve services and to reduce the cost of maintaining the clinical equipment."

Nils Gurdin, employed at Strong since 1972, has been promoted to manager of the medical engineering division of the Strong Health clinical engineering department.

William Bidro, at Highland since 1978, has been promoted to manager of the imaging engineering division of the Strong Health clinical engineering department.

More than 900 physicians are affiliated with Strong Health, including the faculty of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
