Corning physician joins Strong Health
December 15, 1998
Strong Health welcomes Corning internist Jana Pulkrabek, M.D., to its growing health care system.
Pulkrabek affiliated with Strong Health on Dec. 1. She has been appointed to the faculty of the University of Rochester Medical Center and will continue serving patients at her East First Street office in Corning.
"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Pulkrabek to Strong Health," said Leo Brideau, President and CEO of Strong Partners Health System Inc. "The relationship will benefit patients in the Corning region by providing them with the additional services of our health care system."
"As a Corning-area physician and a member of the University of Rochester faculty, I am very pleased to join the Strong family," Pulkrabek said. "I believe this move brings to my patients an improved opportunity to avail themselves of tertiary care services available through Strong, as well as ensuring that Corning-area health care consumers have access to a wide variety of health care provider options."
A native of Czechoslovakia, Pulkrabek received her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1974 from the University of Lausanne Medical School in Switzerland. She came to the United States in 1975 and worked in New York City as a research associate involved in sleep disorder research at Columbia University, and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at V.A. Hospital and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. She served as an instructor at Mt. Sinai until moving in 1983 to Corning, where she opened her private practice. Staff members Beth Taylor, R.N., and receptionist Kay Miller have been with her practice for 16 years.
In addition to her private practice and University of Rochester Medical Center faculty position, Pulkrabek serves as medical director for the Osteoporosis Center, Women’s Health Clinic, Corning Hospital Home Health Care Services, and Women’s Health Services at Corning Hospital and Founders Pavilion.
