The University of Rochester Medical Center’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program is pleased to announce the opening of a new patient care area. A specially designed inpatient/outpatient unit (IPOP) within the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit now enables bone marrow transplant patients to receive specialized care in one location before, during, and after the transplant process. Operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the IPOP Unit essentially offers patients a "one-stop shopping" treatment experience, by allowing them to check-in, undergo treatment, and receive follow-up care, all in one location. Utilization of this new area is expected to decrease hospital stays as more patients receive their treatments on an outpatient basis. This concept will undoubtedly increase patient satisfaction and the quality of care provided to them.
