Strong Health Managed Care Organization Announces Leadership Slate

The Strong Health Managed Care Organization (MCO) has named Highland Hospital physician Anthony L. Suchman, M.D.
as its chief medical officer/chief executive officer. Suchman, of Audubon Street in Rochester, formerly served as the executive director of the Highland PO, Inc. – an organization of practitioners affiliated with Highland Hospital.
Suchman also serves as an associate professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He obtained both his undergraduate degree in Psychology and his medical degree from Cornell University before completing an Internal Medicine residency and fellowships in General Internal Medicine and in Behavioral and Psychosocial Medicine, all at the University of Rochester. Suchman resides on Audubon Street in Rochester. Before he became involved in managed care administration, Suchman studied and taught about patient-physician relationships and medical decision-making. He is the senior editor of a newly published book, Partnerships in Healthcare.
Steven I. Goldstein has been named MCO president, an addition to his current responsibilities as CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital. Goldstein has been with the University of Rochester Medical Center since September of 1996 when he accepted a post as executive director and chief operating officer from Strong Memorial Hospital, and senior vice president for Managed Care for the Strong Partners Health System. In June of 1997, Goldstein was named general director and chief executive officer for Strong. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University and a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Care Administration from St. Louis University Graduate School. A Pittsford resident, Goldstein lives on Chipmunk Trail.
John Olivier serves as vice president of Operations for the Strong Health MCO. Olivier has nearly 25 years of health care administration experience, holding positions at the Durham County Hospital Corporation, and Highland Hospital, as well as ten years at Strong Memorial Hospital. In addition to his role with the MCO, Olivier is the senior director for Network Development and Administration at Strong and the Executive Director of StrongCare. Olivier received a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a master of Hospital Administration from Duke University. Olivier is a resident of Honeoye Falls.
The Strong Health MCO is a joint venture involving the Strong Health system and its three practitioner group partners: Highland Hospital Physician Organization, Rochester Community Physician Organization, and the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group. The MCO is the negotiating arm of the Strong Health system and provides the administrative and care coordination services needed for the system to participate in managed care plans.
