University of Rochester School of Nursing's Open House for New Programs

February 27, 2002

PURPOSE:

To Help Displaced Workers and Non-Nurses Become Nurses in Accelerated Study

TIME:

1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10

LOCATION:

Helen Wood Hall Lounge, 255 Crittenden Blvd., Rochester, NY

BACKGROUND:

The new accelerated programs offered by the University of Rochester School of Nursing enable non-nurses with a Bachelor's degree to become registered professional nurses and earn a bachelor's degree in nursing in as little as one year, or become nurse practitioners and earn a master's degree in only three years. An ideal candidate would be someone who has recently been laid off and is looking to change careers. Only 25 such programs exist in the country, and only three others in New York State.

At the Open House, faculty and representatives from each of the nursing programs at the University of Rochester will be available to answer questions. Working nurses also will be on hand. Programs include the RN to BS, RN to BS to MS, Masters, MS/Ph.D., and Ph.D. in Nursing.
