New Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs Named at Children's Hospital at Strong

Thomas K. McInerny, M.D., clinical professor of pediatrics, has been named associate chair for clinical affairs in the University of Rochester Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics. McInerny has administrative responsibility for all patient care activities at Children's Hospital at Strong and the Department of Pediatrics. He is also a partner in the pediatric practice at Panorama Pediatric Group in Rochester.
"We couldn't be more pleased to have Dr. McInerny in this key position," said Dr. Elizabeth McAnarney, chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical Center. "He has had a sterling career in the care of children and has been very active in both national and local professional organizations. We are fortunate to Dr. McInerny overseeing this crucial area."
McInerny specializes in the field of general pediatrics. He also has published numerous articles in a variety of pediatric journals. .
McInerny received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his internship and his first-year residency at Children's Hospital, Cincinnatti, Ohio. McInerny's second year residency was completed at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
McInerny was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1971 and he has served in a number of leadership positions within that organization. Currently, he is a member of the Academy's Committee on Child Health Finance. McInerny also served on the board of the Rochester Community Individual Practice Association (RCIPA) and is a member of several county, state, and national medical societies.
