Dr. Luke O. Schoeniger Appointed Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

Luke O. Schoeniger, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the University of Rochester's School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Dr. Schoeniger specializes in cancer surgery and surgery of the alimentary tract. His varied research interests include collaborating with other scientists at the University of Rochester Medical Center and University of Rochester Cancer Center in developing treatments for cancers of the gastrointestinal tract using techniques of gene therapy.
Dr. Schoeniger received his M.D. and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship, research fellowship, and residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995. In addition, Dr. Schoeniger served as a registrar at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Schoeniger undertook specialized training in surgery of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas, and finished a recognized fellowship in surgical oncology.
