Remembering a Daughter: 4th Annual Taylor Brush Dinner Dance
February 20, 2006
The 4th Annual Taylor Brush Dinner Dance will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, at the Diplomat Party House at 1956 Lyell Ave. Friends, family, and the public is invited for a night of remembering Taylor and helping the Brush family in their efforts to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.
“Now in our fourth year, it’s funny to remember how the idea even came along,” said Tim Brush, Taylor’s father. “We’d wanted to do something in her memory, and a friend suggested a memorial golf tournament. So then we thought, why not a dinner, instead?”
And a dinner event was just the ticket. With all proceeds directly benefiting the hospital, Tim and his wife, Jen, have been successful in raising over $64,000 for the hospital’s NICU, which is currently experiencing renovations to create a quieter, dimmer, more womb-like environment to promote the growth and development of its tiniest patients.
“Every year, we’re amazed at how many people come. Even new people that Jen and I meet. When we tell our story — Taylor’s story — the event kind of snowballs. Family, friends, friends of friends,” Brush said.
Last year’s event was celebrated with 199 guests. This year, the Brush family hopes to pass the 200 mark.
“There’s a buffet dinner, music, dancing, and we’ll also be raffling off a lot of incredible prizes that businesses have donated,” Brush said. “Like four free one-day passes to Disney World, autographed sports memorabilia, dinner and mall gift certificates, stunning jewelry.”
Tickets, $25 each, are available at reduced prices if purchased for a couple ($45) or a table of 10 ($225). To attend and help the Brush family help the NICU, please RSVP to Jen Brush at (585) 544-6894 by February 27.
