Dancin’ in the Streets… for Miracles
May 25, 2006
Come out to Nathaniel’s Pub on Saturday, Aug. 19, and you’ll catch up on what’s hip.
That’s because Mommies for Miracles, a children’s charity group founded by Jill and Vinny Orologio of Fairport, has rounded up funky local vendors (beaded jewelry, belts, ‘decoplates’) and four of the area’s hottest bands (Puddle, Cheez Factor, Download, and a surprise performer) for an all-day party, from 2 to 11 p.m. at 291 Exchange Blvd. The event will benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.
“Oh believe me, there’ll be dancing,” said Jill Orologio. “And we’ll be doing it rain or shine.”
The bands all are regular entertainers and have followers, so this is a chance for their loyal fans (18 and over) to meet up, hang out and support a good cause to boot. Proper identification is required for those 21 and over.
The net profits from the event will be donated to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong for the purchase of comfort items like games, DVDs, dolls and other items that will help to cheer kids up and make their stays cozier, more like home.
Orologio said that little comforts can mean all of the difference on the road to recovery.
For tunes, a chance to mingle, hang with the Rochester Rhinestones (the Raging Rhinos’ dance team) not to mention munch on some good hometown eats (garbage plates, pizza, hots, etc.), you’ll want to grab a friend and buy your tickets starting June 1 – just stop by Nathaniel’s Pub or call (585) 413-3759. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information and a chance to win two free tickets (enter by signing into the guestbook), visit www.mommiesformiracles.org.
