October 16, 2002
Wine lovers may find their next favorite vintage at the second annual “Toast to Your Health” wine tasting and auction benefit for Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, at the Bausch & Lomb Winter Garden. Funds will support patient care and purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for the cardiac program at Strong Memorial Hospital. “
This is a great opportunity to share a love of wines and show support for Strong Memorial Hospital,” said Jay H. Stein, M.D., senior vice president and vice provost for the Medical Center and Strong Health CEO.
The event begins at 5 p.m., with a tasting of over 200 wines from around the world, a selection of international hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Then at 7 p.m., a five-course, gourmet dinner, prepared by Chef Jay Cohen of The Rio Bamba, will be served. The live wine auction will be conducted during dinner. Libby Smith, formerly of Butterfield & Butterfield of California, will lead the auction throughout the dinner hour.
A highlight of the evening will be the auction of two spectacular wine-buying trips to Burgundy, France. High-bidders will accompany Sherwood Deutsch and Michael Misch of Century Liquor on an exclusive tour of the most renowned vineyards. The travelers will visit the Domaine of Louis Jadot and the Domaine of Romanee-Conti, tour the restored 14th Century castle of Roland Remoissenet and, while in Paris, dine at the famous Tour D’Argent. The trip includes overnight accommodations at many inns and hotels, including a stay at the luxurious Hotel Intercontinental.
Tickets are $50 for the wine-tasting and silent auction, or $150 for the entire evening. Tickets are available by calling (585) 273-3180. ##
