Change Elves Needed to Support Wilmot Cancer Center
December 18, 2006
There are lots of elves helping others at this time of year. Consider being a Change Elf for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center.
Start collecting spare change from your friends, family and co-workers and bring it to The Breakfast Buzz Christmas Spectacular radiothon and holiday event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at TC Hooligans at The Mall at Greece Ridge.
The elf that brings in the most change will receive a $500 mall gift certificate and a $500 party at T.C Hooligans. The money raised supports local cancer care and research at the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
To become a Change Elf, you must register at www.rochesterbuzz.com. You must be registered to be eligible for the prizes. Each elf will receive a subscription to Messenger-Post Newspapers, which is sponsoring the program, or a Razor Sharks basketball family four-pack.
The Breakfast Buzz Christmas Spectacular includes live music, $1.98 lunch and 98-cent drink specials, children's arts and crafts, holiday photos, and the unveiling of a custom-designed Wilmot Cancer Center motorcycle, which will be given away.
Hosts Kimberly Ray and Barry Beck will broadcast live, taking donations from callers and supporters. Volunteers will be taking calls and pledges at (585) 227-WLMT (227-9568.) Cancer patients and survivors will also share stories of hope and triumph.
The Wilmot Cancer Center is raising $42.5 million to expand cancer care and research and construct a new facility. The Wilmot Cancer Center is Rochester’s largest cancer center with more than 400 doctors, nurses and staff working together to care for people with cancer and bring us closer to a cure.
